On the trail of a dangerous energy field, Torchwood are led to Delhi. There they witness the simultaneous disappearance of hundreds of people, and Jack discovers that the field centres on an old colonial mansion - Torchwood India. Jack is shocked to find that Torchwood India is still going strong - he shut it down himself over 80 years ago. He's even more surprised to find that its members, including his old flame the Duchess, haven't aged a day. What is the secret of their eternal youth, and how is it linked to the deadly energy field? The team must find out - and they haven't a moment to lose, for all the time the field is expanding... Golden Age is a 45 minute audio drama which employs the services of the main cast from the TV show to bring their characters to life for Radio (this audio series originally being broadcast on BBC Radio 4). As I've mentioned before, this radio series really appealed to me much more than the TV show. The acting seems to be so much better, but in addition the power of the listener's imagination helps to visualise things that just couldn't be produced for the budget of a TV show. While an entertaining enough audio production, what really elevates this drama up a notch or two is Jasmine Hyde's portrayal of the rather mad Duchess. Torchwood fans are in for a treat. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
