Three lackadaisical vegetable pals waste their days away as kitchen hands who want to star in a pirates play. Although they fail their audition Elliot (Larry the Cucumber), lazy Sedgewick (Mr. Lunt) and no self-confidence George (Pa Grape) find themselves transported back in time to the 17th Century, involved in a quest to rescue the royal family from an evil tyrant. Sometimes you should be careful what you wish for...

The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie (2008 - 1 hr, 21 min, 49 sec) is an animated film which was directed by Mike Nawrocki, from a script by Phil Vischer, who also provides the majority of the primary voices.

The best thing that can be said about The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything is that it is okay, with slightly above average animation and a pedestrian script, which has toned down the overt Christian message of the television show. Still, this isn’t Citizen Kane but an animated film for kid. But even with this caveat it’s average fare at best. The visuals are bright and funky, full of primary colours - the sort that kids are supposed to like.

The full screen presentation is rock solid and you get audio options for English, French, German or Italian. The disc contains no extras.

It’s a pretty cheap disc and should keep your young one amused for a while though at nearly an hour and a half; parents may find themselves staring at their own legs from sheer boredom.
