Dreamer Danny Reed’s life is turned upside down when he is struck by lightning and wakes to find himself trapped in a woman’s body. Instead of being a scruffy DIY store worker with no prospects, he has now swapped lives with glamorous female fashion journalist Veronica Burton. Danny suddenly has to learn how to walk in stilettos and put on a bra, how to deal with the amorous advances of Veronica’s boyfriend Jay and how to pass himself off as a fashion expert while also trying to find out what has happened to his old self...

Boy Meets Girl was originally broadcast on ITV in four parts between 1-22 May. The basic story is straightforward enough. Danny and Veronica swap bodies when they are both struck by lightening. The two couldn't be more different and have to spend life looking through someone else's eyes.

The series mainly focuses on Danny being trapped in Veronica's body. To stop the two tracking each other down straight away, Veronica (trapped in Danny's body) suffers temporary amnesia and ends up wandering the streets not knowing who she is.

So while Danny has to fend of the advances of Veronica's boyfriend, and get to grips with being a fashion journalist, Veronica begs on the street until fragments of her memory start to come back to her. While this is necessary in order for the plot to work, I did think it a slight shame that Martin Freeman was a little underused.

Rachael Stirling does a wonderful job of playing both the glamourous Veronica, as well as the awkward, and rather dowdy Veronica that Danny turns her into. Of course most of the humour comes from the awkwardness of a man having to fit into a woman's world. Thankfully though this isn't over played.

There are some impressive supporting actors too, most notably Paterson Joseph as Veronica's wishy-washy partner and Angela Griffin as Danny's work colleague.

Whether you caught this on its original broadcast or not, this is well worth picking up.
