Chronicling the work of the Miami-Dade crime investigators, CSI: Miami is set against the sun, fun and tropics of the Florida tourist haven. Leading the team is Horatio Caine, an ex-bomb squad detective who is no stranger to confrontations with criminals and the underworld... Season 6 - Part 2 of CSI: Miami includes the final 10 episodes of Season 6 spread over three discs. Caine's past comes back to haunt him in this collection - in more ways than one. First he's reunited with the mother of his son and then he's extradited to Brazil to face murder charges. He also becomes a lot more brutal - he kills with no remorse, beats up a pedophile, wrongly claiming he was resisting arrest, and generally threatens to kill or beat up other suspects when he's no proof they are guilty. HIghlights in this collection include: You May Now Kill the Bride: During their wedding, the bride to be of a baseball star is shot and killed before the marriage vows can be completed. Who would want the star's bride dead? A jealous fan? One of his team mates? His agent? And was the dead woman even the intended target? All In: Caine is ambushed by gang members of the Mala Noche while in Brazil on murder charges. Back in Miami Calleigh has been kidnapped by two men who want her to make a murder scene look like an accident. The segments with Caine in Brazil are interesting as they pay homage to Once Upon a Time in the West - Ennio Morricone's 'Man With the Harmonica' is the obvious inspiration for the music used here. Tunnel Vision: Two cars are engaged in a little road racing after a road rage incident. One of the cars falls through the road into a tunnel. The CSI team soon discover that the tunnel has been dug to break into a bank vault - the tunnel's collapse killing one of the thiefs. Rock and a Hard Place: While this episode isn't overly exciting as far as the crime is concerned, it centres around Alex and her family - which is interesting. Caine's cheesy little speech at the end had me reaching for the sick bucket, but otherwise this had a satisfying conclusion. Going Ballistic: An apparent suicide becomes a murder investigation after a gunman shoots at the CSI team that turns up to examine the body. The rest of the episode revolves around a new type of bullet that has entered the market. This episode has one of the most impressive season ending cliffhangers yet. But I won't spoil that for you. Extras include an audio commentary for the episode Raising Caine; Playing Dead (6 min, 09 sec look at what the makeup process is like for turning actors into corpses); Analysing Season 6 (13 min, 20 sec overview of this season); and The Real Women of MDPD (16 min, 27 sec which interviews different women from different departments in the police force. There's also a long section on training and self defence). Yet another impressive collection of CSI episodes which is well worth picking up. 9 Amber Leigh |
