Bent is a studio-based experimental electronica UK duo that was formed in Nottingham in 1997 comprising of Simon Mills and Nail Tolliday. It is said that the pair made their early recordings with nothing more than a sampler and 2000 second-hand records that they bought for £50. ‘Always’ is possibly one of the band's most-loved and well known tracks and Bent have brought it back to life with two brand new 12” remixes. The first remix of this Bent classic is from Mighty Mouse. It’s a sophisticated mix and I particularly like the female vocals, which add emotion. The beat and the synthed organ sound good and this is, on the whole, a good clean sounding chill out mix. The second remix is Trevor Lovey's, which opens with a much darker and sinister baseline. It feels heavier than the previous remix but it’s still all-good. The electronica has that old skool feel to it but it gives it character and edge. These brand-new remixes blow away the cobwebs and get you ready to party. 8 Helena Rea |
