Supar Novar, a former integral part of Mud Fam, is here with his first ever free mix-tape, Dubplate Sagas: N To The Izzo. The inspirational underground rapper has many releases under his belt which include his debut album From The Beginning released in 2006. This was the year that saw Novar win the Indy Music Award for 'Best Hip Hop Act' and also saw him performing at Glastonbury and on stage with Def Jam artist Ghostface Killa from the legendary Wu Tang Clan. This mix-tape comes with a massive twenty six tracks, which when getting this for free you certainly can't complain. I was expecting it to hold five tracks max. with this being a freebie and all. Throughout this mix-tape Novar uses his vocals to show off the rawness and edginess he has. His rapping vocals mix well into these tracks, he makes it sound so natural. A warning for parents though, Novar certainly likes his colourful language. One of my favourite tracks has to be 'No Love' it has a sixties feel to it and when mixed with Novar's hard vocals this tune keeps it real. Listen out at 2 mins, 10 sec for the change and style of the music. Fantastic. 'Renegade' is another great tune. It's slow, emotional and I just love Novar's vocals mixed with this haunting track. This track features Danny Bones and his rhyming is second to none. 'N To The Izzo' is perfection and I love the rhyming to this tune. This mix has everything from slow rapping and rhymes to hardcore deep spitting. I love what Novar has done to these tracks, making them his own and putting his stamp on them. Some may say his spitting is too harsh but he is just saying it like it is and what's music if you can't put you heart and soul in to it? This is a great mix and I look forward to his second album which he is working on at the moment. 8 Helena Rea |
