Housed on an island, in a volcano within a volcano, Superjail is a psychedelic prison run by a megalomaniacal warden and his motley crew. The Warden is the whimsical heir to a hallucinatory correctional facilities empire where grotesque ultra-violence and sinister perversion rule the day... Superjail!: The Complete Season contains all 11 episodes (including the pilot) of the gory Cartoon Network animated series. Each episode is 11 minutes long and. Almost every episode opens with the character called Jacknife attempting to commit a crime. However, before he can pull it off Jailbot appears and arrests Jacknife, carting him off to Superjail. Then at the end of the episode Jacknife escapes. The Superjail is run by The Warden who is a cross between The Cat in the Hat and Willy Wonka. Other staff members include Jared, Superjail's accountant; Alice the prison guard; and Jailbot the flying robot. Each episode sees trouble inside Superjail - usually thanks to some silly scheme cooked up by The Warden which backfires. Highlights include: Superbar: In an attempt to ask Alice out on a date, The Warden opens a prison bar. Jared is left in charge, but he's a recovering alcoholic. Dream Machine: To prevent a riot, The Warden introduces new technology that allows him to monitor the inmates' dreams. Terrorarium: The Warden stages a science fair for the inmates, but ends up winning with his new Terrorarium invention. The Terrorarium is a snow globe which contains small jungle, wild insect and numerous traps. Five Superjail inmates are shrunk and sent into the Terrorarium - the winner, who battles his way to the hidden finish line, will win his freedom from Superjail. Mr. Grumpy-Pants: Jacknife's accidentally kidnaps a little girl with cancer as Jailbot drags him back to Superjail. When it's discovered that it's the girl's birthday, the inmates decide to throw her a party. It's a shame that the Pilot episode wasn't listed as the first episode (instead it's listed under the features menu) because this helps to set up the show a little better than the first episode. Extras include the pilot episode; Comin' Home Music Video by Cheeseburger (3 min, 07 sec); animatics for four episodes and trailers for other releases. 7 Darren Rea |
