Stephen Fry returns to the role of Peter Kingdom, a wise, warm-hearted solicitor in the small Norfolk town of Market Shipborough. Now that his assistant Lyle is a fully-fledged solicitor, he feels ready for a new office, and suitably empowered, ready for a new girlfriend too. Also on the family front, Peter is about to discover the identity of the father of his young niece - which proves quite a surprise for all concerned. And the cases are coming thick and fast. Sex discrimination in the army, mysterious crop circles and alien invasions, animal research, druids on the golf course, invasions of privacy and ill-mannered Lords of the Manor - Market Shipborough is a remarkable testing ground for all the trials of humanity, and Peter Kingdom can handle them all… or can he...? The third series of Kingdom was originally broadcast on ITV between June and July 2009. Sadly, this is the final series, but the last episode leaves us with a cliff-hanger that indicates that the producers were obviously hoping that another series would be on the cards. The show is a fairly light drama, with just enough comedy added to stop everything getting too heavy. Stephen Fry plays Peter Kingdom, the head of a small solicitors office in a small Norfolk town. The firm seems to specialise in strange cases and in series three they tackle, UFOs, druids, a glowing guinea pig and a river full of dead fish. Guest stars include Peter Sallis, June Whitfield, Anna Massey, Paul Kaye and Jack Dee. This series sees Beatrice, Peter's sister, setting up an adult chat line in order to bring more money in in order to support her young daughter; Lyle finding a girlfriend and attempting to get himself a bigger office; and Sidney Snell (Tony Slattery) gets married. Extras include the text based Stephen Fry Writes and Filmographies as well as a Photo Gallery. 7 Darren Rea |
