After managing to escape from a maximum security prison Neal Caffrey gets caught by his nemesis who put him there originally, White Collar Crime Unit FBI Agent Peter Burke. Tenacious convict Neal suggests an alternative plan to Peter and they strike a deal - in exchange for his freedom, Neal will assist the FBI Unit in catching the most elusive criminals in the country using his unique skills and try to stay on the right side of the law... White Collar: The Complete First Season collects together the entire 14 episodes of the show's first season over four discs. The show revolves around Neal Caffrey, a criminal mastermind who is forced to work with the FBI's White Collar Crime Division in order to help them solve crimes. He is assigned to a handler, agent Peter Burke - who also happens to be the only FBI agent whose managed to arrested Caffrey in the past. Caffrey's constant bending of the rules is brought into check by Burke's by-the-book approach to law enforcement. Tying this season together is a story arc that revolves around Caffrey and his girlfriend, Kate. She left him while he was in prison (which is why he broke out) but Caffrey believes that Kate was forced to dump him. As Caffrey follows the leads he discovers that Kate is being held, with her captor wanting Caffrey to hand over an artefact he believes he has. But can Caffrey really trust Kate? There are plenty of neat twists and turns in this series as we never know whether we can trust Caffrey or Burke. In addition Burke's wife, Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen) and Caffrey's old acquaintance Mozzie (Willie Garson) bring additional humour to the show - especially Mozzie, who is just this side of sane. In fact there is a deleted scene which introduces us to Mozzie which shows he was originally planned to be much more insane. Extras include audio commentaries for five episodes; Gag Reel (12 min, 20 sec); Deleted Scenes (10 min 22 sec); Pro and Con (6 min, 41 sec look at the two leads and how they were cast); A Cool Cat in the Hat (5 min, 41 sec look at the wardrobe department on the show); and Nothing but the Truth (2 min, 27 sec look at how the show's white collar crime expert helps to make everything as realistic as possible). 8 Darren Rea |
