From raging about Britain’s political correctness to reporting about the oddities of America, Live in London 2010 takes the audience on a series of anecdotes, digressions and yarns. Filmed this year during 20 sell-out nights at London’s Hammersmith Apollo, this is the show that caused a ticket website to crash from the demand when it first went on sale. Clearly, Billy Connolly is still the nation’s favourite and now you can enjoy the live show for yourself in the comfort of your own living room...

Billy Connolly Live in London 2010 is a recording of Connolly's latest standup show.

There is, it seems, two Billy Connolly's. There's the funny, intelligent and charming man we've seen presenting shows on TV and then there's this version here who's old and mildly amusing - telling jokes that are a little predictable. In fact some of his stories sound like they've been written by Ronnie Corbett - he just stretches the material to breaking.

It's pretty obvious that Connolly is using someone else's material, which is a crying shame. And he's not paying top whack for it either. A long drawn out gag about the problems of using Sat Nav? Really, in 2010? Keep up, sir. Most comedians stopped doing this sort of thing about five years ago.

I was a little disturbed to see how old Connolly looked - his long grey hair makes him look a bit like a weirdo who the police would arrest if he was within a hundred yards of a playground... But then this could just be me - because he reminds me of my old, mad art teacher. He also becomes forgetful a little too often and acts like he's over the legal drink drive limit, or high on something - he has a crazy wild man look in his eyes.

The price was a bit of a joke too! £22 for a single disc DVD that lasts for one hour and 22 mins. Really? Are Universal having a laugh?

If you've been following Connolly since the '80s then you might get a chuckle out of this. Everyone else will probably be disappointed at how the mighty have fallen.
