Become the ultimate weapon as you take on the role of a Transformers character in the final, epic war that will determine the survival of their entire race. Armed with a diverse arsenal of lethal, high-tech weaponry and the ability to instantly convert from robot to vehicle at any time, players will engage in battles on land and in the air in this third person action shooter set in the Transformers’ war-ravaged homeland. Complete with several multiplayer modes, Transformers: War for Cybertron allows gamers to play through story missions with their friends in drop in/drop out online co-op, and also create their own Transformers character for competitive head-to-head multiplayer modes...

Transformers: War for Cybertron is an interesting third person shooter. In the offline campaign mode, you can choose to play as either the Autobots or Decepticons in the battle to save the Transformers home world and defeat your enemy. While this mode is great fun, those who are expecting a little free roaming will be greatly disappointed as your are shepherded through the levels. However, it's wall-to-wall explosive mayhem as you battle through the levels - even if you seem to be fighting waves of the same few robots.

In the multiplayer levels you can opt for the normal campaign mode, but with two other players by your side; play with three other players in a game of survival as wave after wave of enemy Transformers are unleashed against you; multiplayer team deathmatch; free for all; capture the flag; 'Conquest', which is a capture and hold affair; 'Countdown to Extinction', in which you have to plant a bomb at the enemy base; and 'Power Struggle': where your team has to keep control of an active power node until you've gained enough points to win.

Another interesting aspect is the attention to detail of the graphics. It's worth stopping every now and then and really examining the detail on the machines.

While there's very little that hasn't been done before, and better, Transformers: War for Cybertron is a hell of a lot of fun.
