Google "Asseteria!" and you will find it's a popular New York club night featuring seven-foot tall trannies, world class DJs and fashion models hiding from the paparazzi. Chriss Vargas, New York's no.1 Colombian dance music DJ/producer, began the Asseteria! nights which are hosted by Phat Mike, Joey Slips, Kriss Mass and Rob Phab. It seems to be the last fall of NYC's old school club vibe. Ever since his debut appearance on the main floor of Pacha NYC August of 2008, at his very own Voodoo Birthday party, Vargas's career has sky rocketed. His roof raising events are held at all the premier NYC clubs such as Cielo, Pacha, Arena and Tavern not forgetting his weekly radio show on 'party 105.3' where Vargas pumps out some monster beats. Chriss Vargas brings us Asseteria! Live From Uranus, the follow up to the critically acclaimed Asseteria compilation. With a twelve track listing you'd think that there would be a little of something for everyone but, unfortunately, I don't think this is the case. The majority of tracks hold repetitive non entity beats which seem to drone on and on like 'Audio Damage', 'Ma Beats' and 'Blackout'. 'Ma Beats' had potential but unfortunately the Columbian sounding beat, which was breathing life into the tune, petered off into the far away distance leaving it stagnant. Some of the vocals in these tracks leave a lot to be desired. In 'Filthy Beats' vocals are deep in sound and in 'So Fast And So Deep' they sound like an underwater robot and what vocals there are in 'Dale' are just plain annoying. There is a little light at the end of the tunnel in tunes such as 'Fake', the opener to the album which starts things off on a sassy slick note and 'Dropped' with a more meaty sounding beat. All in all this is not an album I'd rush and buy. Hit the clubs instead to hear some banging beats. 4 Helena Rea Buy this item online
