After the much praised, Recession Vol.1, mix album and the huge crossover record 'Euro Dance Hit', October returns to the decks with his brand new EP, Muscle Memory. At just over 9 minutes in length, 'Flat Top Muscle' should have an array of dance sounds to get your soul moving and grooving to the somewhat broken beat and rhythm. Being such a long piece, I felt it lacked somewhat in depth. This track could really have killed it on the dance-floor but instead the same beat keeps repeating again and again. This is a static tune which I found bland and tiresome. 'Memory Man' opens with a more exciting beat but lets face it that's not hard after the first track. Unfortunately, this seems to head in the same direction as 'Flat Top Muscle' in that it's repetitive and although the beat changes direction once in a while, it's still flat. These tracks are certainly not club anthems and to be honest I don't know where they'd be fit to listen to. They are too tedious and non descriptive for my liking. 3 Helena Rea |
