Mark Baker, Gareth Milburn, Lee Smith and Paolo Di Liberto are Burn The Negative, a nu-wave electro pop band which has had a whirlwind of success since forming in 2008. Moving on from their highly successful debut album, In The Atmosphere (2009), this band have matured in sound and have a new lease of life with the arrival of the newest member, Liberto who has taken over synth and programming duties. ‘Smash And Grab’ is the new single taken from the much anticipated second album, How To Weigh The Human Soul, which will be released 30 August (2010). This single comprises of two versions; the radio edit and the Keith and Supabeatz Remix. Whilst the radio edit is your rockier pop track with guitar riffs, drums and raw indie sounding vocals, the Keith and Supabeatz remix takes it up a notch with a dance infused beat and synthed up vocals to match. ‘High Definition’ has a more chilled out vibe with an infusion of rock and pop. You can really hear the maturity in their sound with this song. I like Burn The Negative, they are diverse in their sound and aren’t afraid of boundaries. 8 Helena Rea |
