The Expendables features the biggest action heroes of the last few decades including Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Jason Statham. One of the champions of the modern action genre, composer Brian Tyler’s unique sound combines strong themes with orchestral fury and relentless rhythms. Heavily influenced by modern production, Tyler blends orchestral colours with contemporary production elements, shifting between pure orchestra, electronic soundtrack and various combinations of the two... Brian Tyler's music for The Expendables represents an interesting collection of powerful themes and moving, sweeping orchestral moments. This album gets off on the right track with 'The Expendables Main Theme' which is a strong main theme that sets the tone for the rest of the album. This soundtrack has plenty of strong, powerful segments as well as a number of beautifully moving themes. In fact the closest thing I can compare it to is David Arnold's recent work - it reminded me of a modern James Bond soundtrack. There isn't a wasted moment or dull segment. This is another powerful score from a composer whose music I fell in love with after I heard his work for Rambo (2008). 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
