Made up of Mark Austin, vocals/guitar; Tom Cosgrave, bass/vocals and Shane Kinsella, drums/vocals, The Minutes are here with their brand new single, ‘Fleetwood’. Having toured extensively in the UK and Ireland with the likes of Hammond Jnr (The Strokes), The Pigeon Detectives, The Von Bondies and Supergrass this band have forged a reputation as a must see act for the future. After a yearlong residency at Whelans, Dublin’s live music staple, in 2009, the Irish trio headed off to Marcata recordings in upstate New York to record their debut album with producer Kevin McMahon. This was followed by a critically acclaimed performance at SXSW in Texas, March 2010. ‘Fleetwood’ is loud, with deep bass, pure vocals and an extensive range of drumming. The harmonica gives a country sound to a very noisy yet likeable song. I really like the vocals on this single; they make the mood a little lighter. 7 Helena Rea |
