Brad Fiedel’s classic electronic score to James Cameron’s benchmark action sci-fi movie The soundtrack has been unavailable for sometime and this new remastered edition includes notes from the composer. Created on two Fairlight CMIs with additional orchestration, Brad Fiedel’s atmospheric score often blurs the lines between “music” and sound effects and perfectly complements the visuals. Since the early '90s Fiedel’s experimental score has had a great impact on a new generation of up and coming film composers... I was never a fan of electronic scores for movies. Firstly they age very badly very quickly, and secondly they always sound so flat and lifeless. Brad Fiedel's score for Terminator 2 is no exception. Yes I loved the movie, and yes the music works well when accompanying the visuals. However, as a standalone soundtrack it just didn't do anything for me. The press release really doesn't help matters: "Brad Fiedel’s atmospheric score often blurs the lines between “music” and sound effects and perfectly complements the visuals." Yes, that's true. But then how many of us want to listen to a collection of sound effects on a CD? At the end of the day the music to Terminator 2 is as cold and as unfeeling as the Terminator. 3 Darren Rea Buy this item online |
