As U Were is the latest release from independent artist Lyrics Born. This is the fifth album from the Bay Area rapper, and exemplifies his most adventurous production to date, blending catchy pop-synth melodies with heavy guitar riffs and pop beats. Those already familiar with Lyric Born's previous releases will appreciate the classic collaborations with Gift of Gab ('Pillz') and Joyo Velarde ('I've Lost Myself'), as well as an overdue reunion with Lateef ('Pushed Aside/Pulled Apart'). He also draws on the talent of recently celebrated acts such as Trackademics ('Block Bots'), Sam Sparro ('Coulda Woulda Shoulda') and Francis and the Lights ('Something Better'). This is an album that has something of interest for everyone. There are tracks that pump it up, others that are mellow, and a couple that sound old school. Born proves, once again, why he is a master of his craft. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
