When Ken is suddenly whisked away by a group of fairies, Barbie’s two fashion stylist friends reveal they themselves are actually fairies and that Ken has been taken to a magical secret fairy world not far away. Barbie and her rival Raquelle take off with their fairy friends on an action-packed journey to bring him back. Along the way they learn that they must stick together and discover that the real magic lies not just in the fairy world itself but in the power of friendship...

Barbie: A Fairy Secret is a 2001 straight-to-video CGI movie that will appeal to young girls. Sadly there's not a great deal here for adults to enjoy, but then this is a kids film.

The computer animation is not overly amazing, but for a straight-to-video movie that has a niche audience, it's not too bad. And, while the story's hardly original, it's still a lot of fun... or at least is if you're a young girl who loves the Barbie franchise.

Extras include Outtakes (2 min, 01 sec pretend mistakes); Can You Keep A Secret? Music Video (2 min, 33 sec - which has clips from the movie set to the music); and trailers for other Barbie movies.

No huge surprises here, but bearing in mind its intended audience this is certainly a DVD that will please a lot of children.
