Ah, the great outdoors. It may not be the weather to go messing about in the countryside at the moment, but if you fancy seeing some of the spectacular sights the brave amongst you could see, you could do worse than check out The Adventurer's Guide To Britain, a show which originally appeared on ITV1. The show was presented by Charlotte Uhlenbroek and Gethin Jones who acted as fronts for the six episode series. I don’t say that in an unkind way, it was pretty brave of them to fly high and crawl low so that we could see the sights we’re too chicken to go and see ourselves, but I always get the same feeling with this sort of program when I see unencumbered presenters looking good, knowing that there is a camera and sound man who not only have to do the same thing but also take their equipment with them. Still, the pair, and their unfortunate crew, explore drowned villages, Exmoor, gold mines and fly a microlite across Britain in their six week overview of Britain’s most inaccessible beauty spots. The disc is a bare bones affair with the six episodes, presented in their original aspect ratio. Each episode lasts a little over twenty minutes. It’s a pretty good show and anyone interested in either the more extreme side of life or the more inaccessible parts of Britain should enjoy this disc. 6 Charles Packer |
