Nobody quite scores tales of the human condition like Francis Lai. Love, loss,
passion and affairs of the heart - extra-marital and otherwise - figure heavily in the
many films (over 100) the French composer has been party to since his first major
feature Un Homme et Une Femme was released in 1966.

Even if you don't know the name and have never heard of any of the 100+ movies he's been responsible for composing, you'll certainly have heard at least a few of Francis Lai's many themes. For a start Sims addicts will recognise the Un Homme Et Une Femme track that's included here, as it was used as the basis of one of the early games background music.

And even if you have never seen Love Story (for which Lai won an Academy Award and Golden Globe for his score) you'll have heard it's main theme used in countless homages (usually in comedy sketches that parody romantic tragedy).

I've got to admit that the majority of these tracks ended up merging into one after a while. They seem to have very similar themes and styles. This is an interesting 'chill out' album, however it's one I'd seriously suggest you listen to before you buy - it won't be to everyone's taste.
