It’s Beethoven meets Honey I Blew Up The Kids, in this heartwarming comedy adventure for the whole family. Max the Dog is kidnapped by evil scientists, but when Max escapes all seems normal until, overnight, he transforms from his cute collie self into the gigantic Monster Mutt! He’s just as lovable as ever, there’s just more of him to love… a lot more! Now it’s a race against time for Ashley and Zack - with the help of bumbling scientist Dr. Lloyd - to elude the evil Sirus and his henchwoman Natalya and find a cure for their giant furry friend before it’s too late...

Chris Walden's score for Monster Mutt is about a million times better than the low budget movie, with a poorly designed giant puppet dog, that it accompanies. That being the case most people will avoid this score like the plague - which is a shame because this really is a soundtrack that's worth owning.

There are more themes here than most composers manage to shoehorn into a single soundtrack. And when listening to this I did get a feel for some of those classic '80/'90s kids films like Honey I Shrunk the Kids (music composed by James Horner).

This is a great score which in unfortunately not helped by being associated with a mediocre kids film. Certainly worth checking out.
