Mickey Haller is a Los Angeles criminal defence attorney who operates out of the back of his Lincoln Continental sedan. Having spent most of his career defending petty gutter-variety criminals, the unexpectedly lands the case of a lifetime: defending a rich Beverly Hills realtor, who is accused of attempted rape and murder. However, what appears in the beginning to be a straightforward case with a big money pay-off swiftly develops into a deadly match between two masters of manipulation, in Lionsgate and Lakeshore Entertainment’s The Lincoln Lawyer... While Cliff Martinez's original score for The Lincoln Lawyer is competent enough, there's nothing here that made my ears prick up with interest. In fact this felt as cold and empty as a lawyer's heart is always jokingly said to be. While I'm sure that for the movie this works well in adding atmosphere to the movie, as a standalone album this plods along never offering anything worthy of your time. Sadly this is a score that is best listened to while watching the film - unless you're a fan of bland background music. 3 Darren Rea |
