Suck it and See is Arctic Monkeys fourth album, and contains just over 40 minutes of music spread over 12 tracks. The album kicks off with 'She's Thunderstorms' which will please followers of the group as this fits in with the band's previous tracks - sounding like a closing track from a Bond movie. This is a clever way of starting the album, as it allows us to ease into the bands more diverse tracks without feeling instantly alienated. It's the perfect opening for what is an impressive album. It's a more mature album than Humbug, which had nowhere near as much heart or diversity as Suck it and See manages to squeeze in. Highlights for me included the rock anthem sound of 'Black Treacle'; the amusing lyrics of 'Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair'; the solid rock beat of 'Library Pictures'; and the self reflecting love song that is 'Love is a Laserquest'. While there's nothing overly radical here, there is a slight departure from their normal style but not enough that it will put off hardcore fans that just want more of the same. And, at least this time around, almost all of the tracks sound like they could be singles in their own right. This is a good, solid album that demands to be played full blast in your car this summer. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
