Haunted by a tragic past, Marine Tommy Conlon returns home for the first time in fourteen years to enlist the help of his father to train for SPARTA, the biggest winner-takes-all event in mixed martial arts history. A former wrestling prodigy, Tommy blazes a path toward the championship while his brother, Brendan, an ex-fighter-turned teacher, returns to the ring in a desperate attempt to save his family from financial ruin. But when Brendan’s unlikely, underdog rise sets him on a collision course with the unstoppable Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront each other and the forces that pulled them apart... Mark Isham's score for Warrior should have been an interesting blend of emotional and stirring tracks. However, I'm sorry to say, there's nothing here that would make me want to dig it out and listen to it again in the future. I've not heard any of Isham's music since I bought his wonderful score for Of Mice and Men (1992), an album that over the years I regularly get out and listen to. The album, which is spread over 12 tracks, runs to 54 min, 14 sec and will appeal to those that enjoyed the music while they were watching the movie, but it's very unlikely to appeal to soundtrack collector's who are looking for something with a bit of clout. The final track 'About Today' by The National is a heavy rock track which shouldn't fit well on this album, but actually compliments Isham's music quite well. While the score no doubt works well when accompanying the movie, as a standalone score it's pretty forgettable. There a few interesting themes, but nothing that will set your world alight. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online |
