This release contains Howard Shore's music for the dark and dramatic tale set in Zurich and Vienna on the eve of the First World War. A Dangerous Method is the story of the relationship between two of the great pioneers of modern psychology, Carl Jung (played by Michael Fassbender) and Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen), and of Jung’s relationship with his brilliant and beautiful young patient Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley)... With the release of the score to A Dangerous Mind soundtrack fans also get Wagner's classical piece 'Siegfried Idyll' (32 min, 04 sec) thrown in for free. Shore's score lasts for 32 min, 53 sec. Shore's music is solid, as ever and appears to have been written to compliment Wagner's style. It's bold and brash, where it needs to be, and mellow and contemplative in other parts. This is a beautiful soundtrack that is well worth adding to your collection - it bridges the boundary between classical and score. 9 Darren Rea |
