Phineas and Ferb discover something their fans have known for a long time - that their beloved pet platypus Perry is really a secret agent, who battles the forces of evil every day. The boys team up with Perry for a grand adventure in a parallel universe, where they must overcome an even more evil version of their arch protagonist Dr Doofenshmirtz... Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension is a made for TV movie that transports the characters from the popular children's cartoon series into a (roughly) one hour 15 minute adventure. And it works surprisingly well - especially if you're already familiar with the characters and how they interact with one another. When Phineas, Ferb and Perry follow Dr. Doofenshmirtz through his "otherdimensionator", they find themselves in an alternate universe where a second, truly evil Dr. Doof rules over his Tristate Area with an army of iron-fisted robots. To save his friends from certain doom, Perry makes the ultimate sacrifice by revealing his secret identity as Agent P. Phineas and Ferb escape, meet there 2nd dimension selves, and begin their own mission to rescue Perry. So begins an epic battle as our heroes try to save their home from the clutches of Evil Dr. Doof... and his sidekick Platyborg. Extras include Perry-oke (play the movie with karaoke subtitles that give you the words to the songs); Dr. D's Jukebox-ator (this allows you to skip straight to your favourite song. It can also be used in conjunction with the Perry-oke feature); "Attack of the 50-foot Sister" (11 min, 48 sec episode from the TV series, with option commentary from some of the crew behind the show); Deleted Scenes; and several other promotional features pushing other Disney products. For fans of the show, this is an essential purchase. And it's not just an enjoyable film for kids. As with the TV series, the comedy will also appeal to adults. 8 Darren Rea |
