The Smurfs Springtime Special includes six classic Easter themed episodes of this much loved, long running Hanna-Barbera animated series. Created by Belgian cartoonist Peyo, the little blue pixies in short trousers and white bonnets became internationally recognisable thanks to these delightful 1980's cartoons... It's time for another Smurf-tastic collection of episodes from The Smurfs '80s animated show. Included on this collection are the episodes: The Smurf's Springtime Special (originally broadcast in 1982): The evil wizard Gargamel kidnaps Mother Nature to stop the arrival of spring. April Smurfs Day (from the show's third season): It's April Smurfs Day and Brainy reluctantly finds himself the unsporting victim of all the Smurfy pranks. The Golden Smurf Award (from the show's third season): The witch Hogatha wants the Smurfs to be the main ingredient in her new beauty cream. Jokey's Shadow (from the show's fourth season): Mother Nature entrusts Papa Smurf with the Enchanted Pollen. But when Jokey gets carried away with a mischievous trick, trouble reaps havoc on the village. Predictable Smurfs (from the show's seventh season): It's the day of the annual boat race and all the Smurfs have designed their own craft. Clumsy accidentally sets off a chain of events which angers Gargamel. Smoogle Sings the Blues (from the show's eight season): The Bluebird of Happiness brings Spring to the Smurfs' village. But when the evil Chlorohydris transforms the bird with her wicked spell, the whole village becomes as miserable as Grouchy. What was really surprising about this collection was the picture quality - which ranges from poor to VHS quality. The odd thing is that the picture quality seems to deteriorate the later the season. While there are no extras, the episodes run for 1 hr, 37 min, 54 sec - which isn't bad for £5.99. 6 Nick Smithson |
