In the Name of the King: Two Worlds (2011 - 1 hr, 32 min, 02 sec) is a fantasy/adventure film, directed by Uwe Boll, from a Michael Nachoff script. Boll is most notable for his films based on console games, although he is usually criticised as a poor director, his continued commercial success cannot be dismissed.

Personally, some of his work has shown him to be a respectable ‘B’ movie director, who can on occasion direct some entertaining stuff, but this is not one of those films. Two Worlds is a pretty poor movie, with a derivative script and a main actor who admits that he only did it for the money, neither of which are great recommendations.

Dolph Lundgren plays Granger with his eyes closed, walking through the plot and clocking up how much cash he is making. The other actors, including the rebel leader Manhattan (Natassia Malthe), Dark Mother (Christina Jastrzembska) and Raven (Lochlyn Munro) do what they can with what is an uninspired, cliché ridden, paint by numbers script, which only allows them to turn in mediocre performances.

The film falls into that strange grey area where it isn’t so bad that it provides a certain level of entertainment, nor is it good enough to hold your attention.

The DVD disc does come with a number of extras, including a commentary by the director as well as a further one by the writer as well as a Behind the Scenes Vignette (6 min, 26 sec), with Dolph bigging up the film. The writer provides another interview (5 min, 04 sec), talking about the film and another with Dolph (11 min, 59 sec). The film is presented in a 16:9 aspect ratio with a crispy clean picture.

Fans of Dolph or Boll might find something of interest here, but for the majority of audiences, its low budget and ‘seen it all before’ script will give the feeling that there are only meagre picking to be had here.
