Kyle, Stan, Kenny and Cartman have returned once again, to find themselves in an endless number of uncomfortably hilarious circumstances. From becoming one with the HumancentiPad and taking on the evil, email-hacking WikiLeaks, to bro downs on Broadway, served with a side of royal Canadian wedding pudding, the boys are as busy as ever in this South Park series that is bound to leave your wormhole tingling - AWKWAAARRDD...! I haven't seen South Park for years, and I have to admit I was expecting this to be a rather bland offering. My first thought was that surely creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone had run out of ideas to keep this edgy and funny. But no, I'm glad to report this is just as funny - in fact, if anything it's better written now than it's ever been - as it was back when it was at the height of its popularity. This collection features all 14 episodes of the show's 15th season, spread over three DVDs. Highlights include: HumancentiPad, which sees Kyle being kidnapped by Apple to be transferred into the latest must have gadget, thanks to the fact that he just clicked "agree" to the new terms and conditions of the latest iTunes update without actually reading them. Crack Baby Athletic Association: After seeing the latest sad crack baby charity ad on TV, Kyle decides to help, but is surprised to see that Cartman is already a volunteer at the local hospital. Kyle is suspicious of Cartman and follows him to see what he's really up to. We also discover that Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash is a made up character - told to children to make them be good before their birthdays and Christmas. You're Getting Old / Ass Burgers: Two part episode in which Stan suddenly starts to realise everything is rubbish. Music sounds naff, food tastes bad... is he just growing up or is something wrong with him. In Ass Burgers, Cartman discovers a flavour enhancer that makes his home made burgers irresistible. Broadway Bro Down: Stan's dad discovers that broadway musicals have subliminal messages hidden inside them that makes women want to perform oral sex on their partners. 1%: Thank to Cartman's obesity, the entire school is deemed the least fit in the state. But he's got more pressing concerns. Someone is killing off his beloved childhood toys. The only extras are brief audio commentaries on each episode by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Unlike other audio commentaries, the two talk about the episode until they run out of things to say, before moving onto the next episode. This is great, because it means you don't have to resist through the entire episode listening to lots of dead air. 8 Darren Rea |
