This box set contains the first 14 episodes of the show's sixth season (which contains 31 episodes in total). The episodes were directed by Hayato Date and are based on Part II of the Naruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. This collection sees Lord Orochimaru's body on its finally legs. He plans to take Sasuke's body, but Sasuke has other plans and ends up killing him. It doesn't take long for word of this deed to spread and Sasuke is soon feared. Sasuke has a mission to accomplish, but first he needs to collect a team together, which he does over the course of several episodes. He first recruits Suigetsu, after freeing him from a hydro capsule, followed by Karin and finally Jugo - who has kept himself locked away for fear of what he can do to others. The two part episode Kakashi Chronicles: Boys' Life on the Battlefield takes us back 17 years to the events of the Third Great Ninja War. A young Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha, and Rin are sent on a mission to destroy the Kannabi Bridge. This is quite a touching and well realised episode that neatly slots into the show's history. Meanwhile Naruto and co., employ a team of hounds to track Sasuke. When Naruto and Yamato come across Kabuto, we discover that he has grafted part of Orochimaru onto his own body. The result being that Orochimaru is slowly taking over Kabuto's body. Elsewhere Sasuke engages Tobi and Deidara in battle. The only extra is a Production Art gallery. 7 Nick Smithson |
