You are a space marine who has been posted to Mars as punishment. When scientists conducting experiments in teleportation accidentally rip open a portal, all manner of nasties come pouring out of the gateway. After the rest of your security team are killed, you are on your own in your quest to stop these beasts while attempting to find out what on earth is going on... id Software's Doom was a landmark 1993 first-person shooter (FPS) that pushed the boundaries of the genre. In fact this and id's Quake (1996) were two of the most popular FPS released in the '90s, and without these it's doubtful whether modern day equivalents like Call of Duty or Battlefield would be as advanced as they are. The graphics and game play handle a little poorly when compared to today's offerings. There's no control option to look up or down, so strafing is the name of the game. And if an enemy is on a ledge above you, simply aim the gun underneath them and your bullets will still hit them. Yes, it's an extremely dated game, but for less than £3.50 this is an essential trip down memory lane for those of us that played it on its original release. A younger audience will no doubt find this a little boring, though. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
