As accompaniment to BBC 4's series, the music for Dirk Gently is spot on. It's quirky, it's weird and it's a lot of fun. However, when listened to in isolation, it's not as engaging - well, it's not the sort of music I'd dig out to listen to anyway.

There are 24 tracks here, which last for 57 min, 30 sec, and I feel like a heel for not warming to this more. It is a truly wonderful score, but just doesn't work outside of the TV show setting that it was designed for. This is not worth picking up on a whim, only if you've already watched the show and really loved the music.
