Linda White, a barren Christian housewife, leads a sheltered existence in suburban Texas. Her world is turned upside-down when she discovers that her dying husband, Abe (John Diehl), has a 23-year old illegitimate son named Raymond living in Florida. Somewhere on the edge of guilt and loneliness, Linda grants Abe's final wish and sets off on a quixotic journey to find Raymond and bring him back before her husband passes away. Along the way, Linda's wonderfully bizarre relationship with Raymond will teach her more about herself than she ever imagined possible and force her to come to terms with her troubled past...

The score to Natural Selection reminded me, in essence, of Mychael Danna's work on Little Miss Sunshine. It's not that they sound the same, more that they have a very similar grounding and overall feel.

This is a chilled out, soundtrack of quirky themes that incorporate instruments like accordions and old fashioned theatre organs, but to be honest it wasn't an album that I'd want to dig out and listen to very often. There are exceptions - a few tracks that I may add to iPod playlists - including 'Rebirth' and 'Domestic Bliss', but on the whole this is music that's best heard when accompanying the film.

The album, which contains 12 tracks, is quite short, lasting 19 min, 27 sec.
