For the score to 96 Minutes, composer Kurt Farquhar juxtaposes beautiful and shimmering melodic textures with gritty, sometimes deliberately distorted melds of electronica and industrial sound design. The result is an interesting album that grabs your attention, but for me I'm afraid that one listen was enough - there's very little here to make you want to play the album through again. I think there might have also been a fault with the download copy we received. The final track cuts off abruptly at 2 min, 52 sec - however the running time on the press release indicates that it should be 3 min, 37 sec. In addition the track 'Paths Colliding' was included twice. Hopefully these errors won't be on the retail version. The album's quite short coming in at 35 min, 11 sec and to be honest the only tracks I really enjoyed were 'Paths Colliding' and the closing vocal track 'How Did I Get Here' As interesting and groundbreaking as this score is, I can't help feel that it's going to get old very quickly. There was little here that I'd want to listen to in isolation again, but for fans of the movie this might be worth picking up. 4 Darren Rea Buy this item online |
