Singled out as a main contribution to the overall success of the series by creator Mark A. Altman, Joe Kraemer’s music for the Cinemax anthology series Femme Fatales is an exciting, dark and sensual listening experience. Featuring over 66 minutes of music (one selection from each and every one of the 24 episodes comprising the first two seasons of the show)... The soundtrack to the TV show Femme Fatales is interesting down to the fact that there are so many varied themes and set pieces here that there's bound to be something that knocks your socks off. Apparently each track is taken from a different episode from the show's 24 episodes that make up seasons one and two. Whether the music is repeated across the seasons, or whether each episode has a unique score I'm not sure, but there's quite a lot of style and variety here to sink your teeth into. The album contains 26 tracks, which represents 1 hr, 06 min, 27 sec worth of music. Personal favourites include: 'Till Death Do Us Part...' (the last segment of which seems to pay homage to John Williams's score for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - most notably the track 'Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra'); 'Crazy Mary' (with it's haunting central theme, this progresses into a more upbeat track before turning into a sci-fi-esque theme, this was my personal favourite on the album); 'Trophy Wife' (picks up the theme that opened 'Crazy Mary' but delivers a more James Bond sound); and 'Bad Science' (which is a beautiful track that sounds similar to Thomas Newman's music for The Shawshank Redemption). While not an essential purchase, there are enough different beats to make this an album worth checking out. 7 Darren Rea |
