Greta Gerwig plays Lola, a 29 year-old woman dumped by her longtime boyfriend Luke just three weeks before their wedding. With the help of her close friends Henry and Alice, Lola embarks on a series of desperate encounters in an attempt to find her place in the world as a single woman approaching 30... Lakeshore Records has released two soundtrack albums for Lola Versus. There's the Original Score by Fall on Your Sword, and then there's this various artists soundtrack. While far from perfect, I personally preferred Fall on Your Sword's album (in fact there's one of the tracks from that album included on this various artists soundtrack). Fans of the movie will no doubt enjoy this compilation album, but personally it didn't do much for me. Highlights, however, include 'Minor Keys' by Big Troubles; 'Heaven In Stereo' - Shilpa Ray & Her Happy Hookers (which sounds like a Billy Idol track); 'Only Yesterday' by Taken by Trees; 'Saturn Returns' by Kyle Forester; and 'Strip Club and Aftermath' by Fall On Your Sword. 'The Crystal Cat' by Dan Deacon is a rather odd track, with what sounds like chipmunks on backing vocals - go figure. The album contains 13 tracks with a running time of 44 min, 52 sec.
