Mamitas follows Jordin, a cocky but charming Latino firebrand. At home he can’t seem to please his perpetually cranky father. On the day he’s suspended for insulting a teacher, Jordin meets Felipa, a bookish, no-nonsense New York girl who sees past the swaggering façade. The two immediately embark on an unlikely friendship that inspires Jordin to find out who he really is... Joseph Trapanese's short score for the independent film Mamitas contains all the right ingredients to act as a backdrop for the coming-of-age movie it supports. The themes are slow and beautiful. The album lasts for 20 min, 26 sec and is spread over 13 tracks. This is a piano heavy score, which incorporates a handful of wonderful themes. Highlights include 'Questions' and 'Future', both of which are slow, yet graceful. This is a short, but very sweet album. 7 Darren Rea |
