Chime Hours is the new EP from London's electro-pop duo Evokateur: Hector Villaraus (producer, composer) and Sarah Villaraus (songwriter, lyricist). The EP opens with '1684' which sounds like a modern Kate Bush track. It's haunting and beautiful - I can't think of a better opener. 'Post' is another wonderful track, with just the right mix of serious vocals and electro-pop. 'White Horses' sees a shift in tempo as we move up a gear into the fringes of trance - but with Sarah's beautiful vocals keeping everything grounded. 'How Long' witnesses another change in style. The opening sound, which forms the backing beat, is weird yet engaging. The music slowly builds into a more mellow, beautiful track. 'White Horses (Fear Of Tigers Rmx)' is an interesting, funkier take on the original track and a great way to sign off. This is an EP that's well worth seeking out. 8 Nick Smithson |
