Celebrating the great influence of such action film scoring heroes as John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith and Alan Silvestri, Spanish composer Zacarías M. de la Riva has written an entertaining and swashbuckling orchestral score for this feature film debut of Tadeo Jones... Zacarías M. de la Riva (Hierro, Imago Mortis) delivers yet another powerful score. As this animated movie is very much in the Indiana Jones mould, it's not a huge surprise to learn that the work of John Williams appears to be the main influence that Riva takes his cues from. I'd argue that 'Sara's Theme', which has huge elements of Williams peppered throughout, is this album's most beautiful track. Other segments of note include 'Lost Pyramid'; 'The Airport' (which weaves in a subtle nod and a wink to Raiders of the Lost Ark); 'Epilogue and Tadeo Jones Titles (Reprise)' (which reminded me of John Powell and Harry Gregson-Williams work on Antz); and 'Descending into the Lost City' (which takes numerous cues from Alan Silvestri's work on Back to the Future and Predator.) The album runs for 55 min, 28 sec and is made up of 22 tracks. Riva delivers another powerful and impressive score. 7 Darren Rea |
