Hadi Hajaig’s action thriller starring Sean Bean and Charlotte Rampling features an intense and effective orchestral score by Simon Lambros, performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. It’s a mature and dramatic score that propels action, underlines suspense and provides an emotional backdrop for the story - a score that in terms of style is somewhat akin to such genre works as James Newton Howard’s The Fugitive and John Powell’s music for the first three Bourne movies... Simon Lambros's orchestral score for Cleanskin features an interesting collection of musical styles and stunning set pieces. While there's quite a lot of atmospheric scene enhancing tracks, these are so much more than the usual bland offerings that are designed to melt into the movie's background. I think my favourite track has to be 'Retribution' which is emotionally charged and offers a powerful theme to the whole score. There are plenty of interesting little "themes" that pop up throughout this album, and you'll discover something new to enjoy each time you listen to it. 'Aftermath' reminded me, ever so slightly of Howard Shore's work on The Fly (1986). For those that are looking for an action score with slightly more maturity than the norm, you may have found what you're looking for in Cleanskin. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online |
