Singaporean film scoring team Joe Ng and Alex Oh enter a soundtrack genre that is forever associated with John Williams's milestone score for Jaws. Their score for Bait 3D is mightily impressive. While the film has been described as a typical B movie, the soundtrack is a mature and impressive score which fuses elements of hard-hitting horror action with beautiful, richly textured and melodic string writing. It would have been so easy for the composers to have delivered a Jaws feel (and to be perfectly honest I was surprised that that wasn't what the director had stipulated) but what we get is a collection of beautiful themes. 'Shark Bait' brought to mind Howard Shore's work on The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. 'Fishing for Sharks' and 'Bait' reminded me very much of Martin O'Donnell's wonderful score for Halo 3. Lasting 45 min, 38 sec and consisting of 20 tracks, this album delivers way more than you'll be expecting. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online |
