Orbital’s electronic soundtrack to Luis Prieto’s remake of Nicolas Winding Refn’s 1996 directorial debut starring Richard Coyle, Agyness Deyn and Zlatko Buric. The film follows a story of luckless drug dealer Frank over a course of a bad week... Ah, Orbital. Back in the '90s when I was a lowly hack living in London. Orbital was my soundtrack to work. Travelling on the tube twice daily, In Sides got me up and ready to go to face my office computer, and then wind down on the return home. I know the they have released a few albums since then (including this year's [2012] Wonky, but I have to admit I've moved on since then and haven't followed their musical output. I was hoping that the edge was still there, and that they hadn't become old, fat and lazy (like me over the ensuing years) and thankfully I was pleased to hear that their output is still as exciting and cutting edge as ever - to the point where I think an iTunes shopping trip is long overdue to pick up the albums I've missed. To some this will be extremely bland and unfathomable - electronic noise at its worst. But I loved the subtly of some tracks and the in-your-face element of others. This is ambient electronic dance at its best. Whether it works in the setting of the movie is another matter - I have to admit I haven't seen it - but as a standalone score this is impressive. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
