The Light Music Club has progressed to their senior year, staying and playing together. The usual worries continue, with the girls obsessions about their relationships and school events. Yui Hirasawa, Mio Akiyama, Tsumugi Kotobuki, Nodoka Manabe and Ritsu Tainaka are moving towards graduation and the possible dissolution of the Club. All these things both strain the girl’s relationships and keeps them close...

K-On!: Season 2 - Part 2 covers the second half of the show's second and last season. The show was directed by Naoko Yamada, written by Reiko Yoshida, and featured character design by Yukiko Horiguchi, who based these on the original manga.

The show remains a pleasant enough piece of fluff aimed at teenage girls. The animation is bright, using lots of primary and pastel colours, the thing looks like confectionary. There is some sadness for the girls as when they graduate they will be leaving their youngest member, Azusa, behind.

Still there is time to engage in marathons, sorting out their yearbook photos and write some more upbeat, dodgy songs. Although the girls are heading for graduation the show makes no pretence at providing an on-going narrative, it’s just the girls doing stuff.

The disc comes with a 2.0 English dub as well as the original Japanese 2.0, with English subtitles. The only extras are the textless opening and closing sequence on disc two.

Disc one holds episodes 14 – 20, with disc two holding 21 – 27. The show's story actually ends with episode 24 and the girl’s graduation. The remaining episodes are extras, slotted in-between previous stories, with Episode 27 being the OVA.

As they say, it is what it is and does not pretend to be anything else. It's bright, light-hearted, fun entertainment.
