The war rages on with Worms: Revolution, the latest game in the best-selling series. Classic 2D game play meets fantastic new features such as physics objects, dynamic water, classes and all-new weapons. Also included Worms 2: Armageddon - featuring a raft of crazy new weapons, a highly-involving single-player experience, deathmatches, races, fort games and puzzles... This collection packages together Worms: Revolution (2012) and Worms 2: Armageddon (2009). For both fans of the Worms franchise, and those new to the games, this is an ideal package. It contains two games that are very different, whilst still maintaining that familiar Worms feel. Worms: Revolution takes a slightly new approach in that the Campaign mode sees you taking your worms around obstructions in a bid to complete your quests. The Training mode is extremely helpful, and plays out like part of the game - which makes it more fun. And there is also a Puzzle mode which is challenging. One of the main highlights is the quirky narration which is sarcastic and will have you chuckling to yourself - even if sometimes the narrator is simply reading from his script without putting the correct emphasis and timing on his gags. The game also comes with 3 DLCs for free (although be careful as it's easy to download the paid for versions accidentally if you don't get them from the main menu). The main drawback though is that you can't flip the camera controls. Worms 2: Armageddon is more like the original 2D game old fans will be familiar with. Game modes include Training, Campaign (35 levels to complete) and multi player games that can be played locally or via Xbox Live. When you complete a level, or a training mission, you gain coins. These can be spent in the shop to unlock new items. You can also customise your team name, worm names and appearance, as well as several other aspects of the game play. This game comes with all 5 DLC packs at no extra charge. Whether you play alone or with friends, this is probably the best modern Worms package available for the Xbox 360. As you'd expect, most of the laughs come from the reaction of the worms themselves - all of which have their own sayings - however, this can be tiresome on occasion as they tend to repeat themselves. There is a slight issue with the control layout - which can cause you to make silly mistakes when you're rushing to complete your moves within the time limit, but otherwise this is a whole heap of fun. 9 Darren Rea |
