Boss stars Kelsey Grammer in his Golden Globe®- winning role as fictional Chicago Mayor Tom Kane, a man who holds sway over just about everything in Chicago - except his own life. Estranged from his wife and daughter, he is left with no one to turn to when he learns he has a degenerative brain disorder. It’s a secret that threatens to rip everything from him and in order to maintain his power, he governs as he always has - ruthlessly... The soundtrack to Boss contains the original score by Brian Reitzell as well as 'Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down (Boss Remix)' - Robert Plant & The Band of Joy; 'Arb Section 1' - Mark Hollis; and 'Black Moon' - Wilco. It's an interesting score - which no doubt fans of the series will be glad they can pick up. For casual soundtrack fans, this is an acquired taste. It takes a few listens to get into and even then it probably has a very short shelf life. The one stand out track, for me, was 'Punishment (interpolating Moonlight Sonata - Piano Sonata #14 Mvt. 1)', which gives us a fresh take on Beethoven's famous composition. It's quirky and original, so it's worth checking out from that point of view. Just don't expect to be digging it out in the future for nostalgic value. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online |
