Alex Heffes provides the orchestral score to this gripping tale of love and honour forged between fierce enemies of war. Emperor unfolds the story, inspired by true events, of the bold and secret moves that won the peace in the shadows of postwar Japan... Alex Heffes's score for Emperor represents a collection of beautiful themes and set pieces. It's a mellow, orchestral score that stays just this side of cliched when it comes to the Japanese inspired segments. There are numerous themes that are woven throughout the album, but it's the music that is at the core of 'Opening Titles' and 'We Did Our Duty' that stood out as a personal favourite. The album lasts for 55 min, 28 sec and contains 17 tracks. This is well worth checking out if you're a fan of classically scored albums. 8 Darren Rea |
