BuySoundtrax Records release The Film Music of Michael Nyman For Solo Piano featuring piano performances by Joohyun Park.

While I have to openly admit that I'm not really a fan of the music of Michael Nyman, this album made me appreciate the man's music a little more. I've always thought that Nyman had one song that he just endlessly trotted out. You can tell a Nyman score a million miles away; it's usually the one that repeats a couple of bars of music over and over until everyone feels nauseous. However, at the hands of Joohyun Park, Nyman's music becomes listenable - almost appealing.

The album contains 16 tracks and lasts for 46 min, 39 sec. It's a little telling that seven of the tracks are from The Piano - possibly Nyman's only passably listenable score.

If you're a fan of Nyman's music then this will interest you. But if you're looking for some relaxing modern piano music BuySoundtrax Records have some way better releases in their back catalogue.
