Joseph Francis and Martin Smyth met by chance on a train at Chicago's Union station. An Englishman and Irishman far from home, both were singer / songwriters, both were broke, but intent on making their way to Memphis, Tennessee, the birthplace of Rock n Roll. Find, Follow is the duos debut EP under the band name Winter Mountain. This is an impressive first collection of songs, which feels like the work of a much more accomplished band 'Shed A Little Light' reminded me of Shed 7's 'Going for Gold'. There's a very familiar riff, but that's not to take away from what is a very catchy, upbeat track. 'Sarah' opens in a similar vein to The Communards -'You are my World'. It's a much more mellow track than 'Shed a Little Light' 'Whenever You Lay Your Head Down' rounds this EP off wonderfully. All three tracks are very different in style and show promise for the future. I'll be looking out for Winter Mountain in the future and will certainly be looking forward to the release of an album. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
