Inspired by actual events, The Iceman follows notorious contract killer Richard Kuklinski from his early days in the mob until his arrest for the murder of more than 100 men. Appearing to be living the American dream as a devoted husband and father; in reality Kuklinski was a ruthless killer-for-hire. When finally arrested in 1986, neither his wife nor daughters have any clue about his real profession... Haim Mazar's score for The Iceman is gripping and edgy, but on the whole probably works better when accompanying the movie rather than a standalone album. It's difficult to review this kind of album because in the movie the music heightens the onscreen tension - when listened to in isolation a lot of the tracks fall a little flat. Tracks like 'The Iceman' and 'Finale' showcase what beautiful music Mazar can compose given the chance to step away from writing atmospheric material. But, I have to say that for me the album's highlight was the song 'No Looking Back' by the Crash Kings. This isn't a score to pick up on a whim, but if you saw the movie and enjoyed it, then you'll know what you're letting yourself in for. The album lasts for 51 min, 06 sec and contains 19 tracks. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
